Amphotericin is an antibiotic that is prescribed for serious fungal infections. Usually, this drug is only prescribed if other anti-fungal drugs fail to resolve the infection. In addition, the drug is usually given only to patients who have a life-threatening infection rather than a fungal infection that can be resolved in some other manner.
Patients who take this drug are at risk of an accidental fatal overdose. If a patient takes too much of the drug, he or she may experience a fatal heart attack or cardiac arrest. Patients who take this drug often experience other side effects such as:
- Chills and fever
