Celecoxib
Celecoxib is an anti-inflammatory drug that is often used to treat arthritis. It can also be used to treat other types of painful inflammations such as menstrual cramps. This drug used to be used to reduce colon polyps that could become cancerous, but it is not approved for this use anymore.
Warnings/Side Effects
Patients who use Celecoxib are more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than people who don’t take this drug. Thus, patients who suffer from heart disease should not take this medication.
Celebcoxib is also associated with higher levels of serious gastrointestinal disease, including bleeding ulcers and gastrointestinal perforation. Older people are more likely to suffer these side effects than younger people.
