Fentanyl (Nasal Spray)

Fentanyl Nasal Spray is an opioid-strength painkiller that is prescribed to cancer patients to help control breakthrough pain. This drug is prescribed in conjunction with other narcotic painkillers to provide pain relief to these patients 24 hours a day. Patients can take it up to four times a day if needed to control pain.

Side Effects/Warnings

Keep this medication out of the reach of children. Accidental ingestion or use of this medication by young people can result in a fatal overdose.

Do not take this medication more than four times a day because of the risk of overdose. In addition, do not take this medication to treat any condition other than breakthrough pain from cancer. Taking the medication other than as directed can cause a fatal overdose.

Patients who have a history of drug abuse or who are allergic to opioid medications should not take this medication.
