Moexipril
Moexipril is sometimes prescribed to help lower high blood pressure. It may be prescribed by itself or in conjunction with other blood pressure medications. This medication is an ACE inhibitor, which means that it works by stopping the body from producing an enzyme that makes blood vessels more narrow. This medication therefore lowers blood pressure by widening the blood vessels.
Side Effects/Warnings
It’s important to avoid pregnancy while on this medication. ACE inhibitors like Moexipril are often fatal to developing fetuses, and if the baby survives, he or she will have severe birth defects.
Patients on this medication are at risk of abnormally low blood pressure, especially if they are also on other blood pressure medications. If you feel dizzy or drowsy while on this medication, see your doctor as soon as possible.
