Telavacin is an injectable antibiotic medication that is prescribed to treat serious skin infections. This medication stops bacteria from growing in order to resolve infections. It may be prescribed in conjunction with other antibiotics.
This medication may cause serious birth defects. Laboratory tests have shown that it causes birth defects in animals, though it is not clear how the medication affects humans. Pregnant women should not take this medication if alternative medications are available in order to minimize the risks to their children. Women are required to use birth control while on this medication unless they have had a surgical procedure to prevent pregnancy or are postmenopausal.
